6 Days Machame Route – Mount Kilimanjaro

Trek the popular Machame Route on Mount Kilimanjaro, known as the “Whiskey Route,” offering scenic views, diverse ecosystems, and a challenging but rewarding climb.

Itinerary

Day 1
Arrival & Machame Gate

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to Moshi/Arusha. Meet your guides and porters, attend the trek briefing, and overnight in Moshi/Arusha.

Day 2
Machame Gate to Machame Hut

Begin your trek through the rainforest, enjoying lush greenery and wildlife sightings. Reach Machame Hut for your first overnight stay.

Day 3
Machame Hut to Shira Hut

Ascend through the moorland zone with spectacular views of Mount Meru and Kibo. Overnight at Shira Hut.

Day 4
Shira Hut to Barranco Hut

Trek across the Shira Plateau, then descend into the Great Barranco Valley. Enjoy breathtaking scenery and overnight at Barranco Hut.

Day 5
Barranco Hut to Karanga Hut

Climb the Barranco Wall, then trek to Karanga Hut. Shorter day to help acclimatize before the summit attempt.

Day 6
Summit to Mweka Gate

Begin the midnight climb to Uhuru Peak. After celebrating the summit, descend to Mweka Hut and finally Mweka Gate for transfer back to Moshi.
