Lake Natron is a **shallow salt or soda lake** in northern Tanzania, located in the Gregory Rift at the foot of the active Ol Doinyo Lengai volcano. The lake spans 57 km long and 22 km wide, with a depth of less than three meters, and fluctuates with seasonal rainfall. Its waters are highly alkaline, reaching pH levels over 12.

Unique microorganisms and blue-green algae thrive in this environment, giving the lake its **striking red and orange hues**. These conditions provide an ideal breeding ground for flamingos and other bird species. Lake Natron is not only a scenic wonder but also a vital ecological habitat for migratory birds.
